Hi, my name is Arya!


— I’m an illustrator and visual designer.

We all have stories around us and the people who tell them. Illustrators are often assumed to be storytellers, but I might be more of a story 'drawer.' I have been drawing ever since I started walking, literally! I used to sit beside my dad in his then little jewelry shop, sketching in my big drawing book, inspired by the beautiful art he passed down to me. The creating part mostly came from me stitching dresses and crafting accessories for my barbie doll︎

But like many other designers I grew up and started seeking perfection in my designs but then during a summer holiday while attending NID, my mother got a brand new whiteboard for my 4 year old brother. He kept drawing on it, just like I did when I was his age, creating human figures (all by himself) without caring about human anatomy. That's when I realized that stories don't need to be perfect-they just need to be told to the audience that carry the need to listen. Deeply influenced by the cross-disciplinary culture at NID, I now blend my love for fashion, dance, and theatre into illustrations that tell stories-"not necessarily the big ones."
